Friday Night Lights! Who’s ready for 18.2?!

Well, we all survived 18.1 with a few ripped hands!

Friday Night Lights was exciting. It was great to see so many members participating in the Open. For some of you, this was your first time and you did amazing! For others, you have been training all year for this moment and have seen your scores improve. Way to go! We had some friendly fun with people re-doing the workout for better scores and to try to beat their fellow athletes...Frank O., Greg V., and Ron B. These three crank it up a notch every time! A huge shout out goes to our very own Tom Groff for placing 46th Worldwide and 5th in the Region! Keep it up Tom.

A big thanks goes out to everyone who came out to support us and help with judging. It certainly makes things run a lot smoother. A great big thanks to the paparazzi...you know who you are! It’s always great to see the candid pictures and pained faces. Reminds us of the hard work we put in to make things happen!

So here is some food for thought about how to approach the rest of these workouts. First, watch the workouts on Thursday nights at 8:00 PM (games.crossfit.com). Listen to some of the suggestions they offer then follow your gut. It’s all about what you (personally) are looking to achieve. If your name on the leaderboard is important then by all means, RX the workout. Also, if you know you can handle most of the movements in a particular workout but one movement might not be in your wheelhouse, go for it anyway. Magic happens during Friday Night Lights and people hit PR’s they’ve been working on all year. Here’s the flip side to that...Scale It! There is no harm is scaling the workout if the weight is too heavy or you know you will not get a particular movement like bar muscle-ups or handstand push-ups. Attack the workout in a way that best meets your ability. I can assure you, it will still be challenging. Most importantly, have fun! Push yourself and encourage your fellow athletes to do the same. You are stronger than you think and are capable of going longer than you’d ever imagine.

Good luck with the rest of the workouts! See you at Friday Night Lights!
